Terms of Service

PICPIO, by CURIOUS WORM · Last updated: 30 June 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the PICPIO website (picpio.in), the PICPIO sign-in service, and related online services we provide (together, the "Service"), operated by CURIOUS WORM ("we", "us"). The PICPIO software itself (the VS Code extension and tools) is additionally licensed under its End User License Agreement (EULA), included with the software.

In short: PICPIO is free to use for PIC development. Be honest at sign-in, don't misuse the Service, and understand it's provided "as is". Your data is handled under our Privacy Policy.

1. Acceptance

By using the Service or signing in to PICPIO, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

PICPIO is a free tool for programming Microchip PIC microcontrollers inside VS Code. To use it you sign in with a Google account. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may limit or discontinue the Service at any time.

3. Eligibility and student use

You must be old enough to consent to use an online service in your country, or have permission from a parent, guardian, or teacher. PICPIO is commonly used in education; schools and educators are responsible for obtaining any consent required for their students.

4. Your account

  • You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your Google account secure.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and not to impersonate anyone or use another person's account without permission.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure;
  • reverse-engineer, scrape, or misuse the Service beyond its intended use;
  • infringe the rights of others or violate any applicable law.

6. Software license

Your use of the PICPIO software is governed by its EULA, which is included with the software and on our repository. In summary, PICPIO is licensed (not sold) for your own development use; you may not redistribute, resell, or reverse-engineer it. See also our third-party notices for bundled open-source components.

7. Third-party tools and services

PICPIO works with third-party tools and services that have their own terms, including Microchip's MPLAB XC compilers and MPLAB X (which you install from Microchip) and Google / Firebase (which provides sign-in and hosting). We are not responsible for those third parties, and your use of them is subject to their terms. PICPIO is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microchip Technology Inc.

8. Intellectual property

PICPIO, the PICPIO name and logo, the website, and all related content are owned by CURIOUS WORM, except for third-party components under their own licenses. These Terms grant you no ownership rights.

9. Disclaimer

THE SERVICE AND PICPIO ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CURIOUS WORM shall not be liable for any damage to hardware, loss of data, lost profits, or any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service or PICPIO.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time (you can sign out from within PICPIO). We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including sections 6, 8, 9, and 10) survive termination.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest version; significant changes will be noted here. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service.
